Thank you! It was a nice surprise when you handed Mike and I a couple of coupons. You saved me $25 dollars on my mini-shopping spree yesterday! What's more, you brightened my day! It's refreshing when people go out of their way to do something nice. Sadly, it doesn't happen as often as it should.
You made me think, we should all make it our goal to do something nice for a stranger from time to time. It's not that difficult. You could help an elderly person with their groceries. Or, slow down (instead of hitting the gas) so people can actually merge into traffic. The smallest gesture of kindness can really make a difference!
What's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?

Coffee and a Donut
Last week the guy in front of me at Tim Horton's bought my coffee and my donut. I was shocked...but it put a huge smile on my face. I did the same thing this morning for the person in the car behind me.

Post Office
One day i had to run to the post office before school to get a stamp and mail a really important document for my insurace. i was really crunched for time and the lime was wayyyy to long. i realized they had machine that you could buy a book of stamps from. so i got out of line and went to use it. it would not take my last dollar or give what i had already put in back. i did not know what to do and i did not have time to get back in line to tell them something was wrong with the machine. i was about to leave because i was already going to be late for my first test when a man came up behind me and popped four quarters in the machine and it worked. i was so grateful because he saved me from wasting the money i had put in and i was able to mail the paper i needed sent out....and i made it to class right on time...3 huge favors in one. and he wouldnt even take the dollar that the machine wouldn't take. :)

Random act of kindness
I got stuck in the snowbank in my own drive way one winter night. It was very dark, very very cold and I was pretty deep in the snowbank. I was also more than 45 minutes for work and in a panic over the whole thing. A gentleman and his some came over, it seemed literally from out of nowhere and took more than 10 minutes to get me out. Then they went on their way. They even turned down an offer of a warm drink after. They men were not from my neighbour hood, and I have not seem them since, but I remember it and the way they showed up it was like Angels showing up out of nowhere and helping. Even 6 years later, I search the faces in my neighbourhood to find them just to say thinks again. It helped me follow through with my own attitude and actions for the pay it forward idea.

Accident
On April 5 my daughter and her friend were involved in a motorcycle accident in Medina. It took my husband and I almost 2 hours to get to the hospital from our home in Ontario county. After arriving at the hospital in a total panic, we found our daughter with scrapes and bruises but otherwise OK. Minutes after we walked into the emergency room a lady stepped into the room and asked how she was doing. We talked with her for a short time about the accident and were very comforted by the fact that someone was with her when she was so scared and hurt. This lady stopped at the accident scene to attend to my daughter as a Mother would have then *2 hours* later showed up at the hospital to check on her again. Her being there at the hospital forced me to find some sort of decorum to talk to a stranger who had helped my daughter and that in turn helped me to keep from falling completely and totally apart.I believe this lady was our angel that day both for my daughter and my self.
Kimberly..Thanks Again!

It Stays with You
A least it has with me. When I was a very young child, my mother was prone to horrible migraine headaches. One time, she sent me into the pharmacy with money for her medication. To my horror, when I was standing at the cash register, I found I was short $1 to pay for it. The cashier just shrugged & told me to go out to my Mom & get it.
Things were very tough back then & I knew my Mom didn't have any more money. I burst into tears, begging the cashier to let me have the meds anyway.
Just then, a man behind me tapped my shoulder & handed me a dollar bill for the rest of the cost. It's been nearly 50 years, & I still remember it like it was yesterday.

helping a kid
I was behind a guy in a cadillac who crossed over from the left lane to the right to make a right turn - he cut in front of a young boy with his grandfather - the big stuffy dude in the cadillac got out of his car like he owned the traffic lanes. Well, I saw how rude he was to the kid. I gave the kid and grandfather my name and phone number as a witness. The sheriff called me, and I responded with a statement. That cadillac owner thought he was going to rattle the kid and make it look like the kid's fault. Well about two weeks later there was a knock on my front door. It was a lady with a big bouquet of flowers. She said thank you. It was her young son that was driving the car that got hit. And if it wasn't for me and my statement, the stuffy dude in the cadillac would have had the accident blamed on the kid. That was nice of her!

My Dad's Random Acts
My Dad passed away almost 5 yrs ago. My dad always had a HUGE heart, but I guess it wasnt until his funeral that I realized just how many lives he had touched. Soooo many people came up to me, many I had never seen before, with stories of how my dad would somehow know when a washing machine broke, and he would show up with one. Or when there was no more food in the fridge for the kids. Or an offer to take someone where there needed to be when a car broke down. Always with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.

Some people are great!
When my sister was younger, she had a childhood disease that affected her kidneys, and eventually she had to go on dialysis before having two kidney trnasplants (this is all before she was 17!). Well, she could not swim in any water that was not chlorinated because the dialysis site would get infected. So, my parents went to look for a pool at Space Age Pools in Watertown, NY. The store owner was very inquisitive about which pool they were interested in because he had heard my sister's story. My parents did not buy the pool that day and got a call the next day from the store owner that they were going to donate the pool to my sister including the pool, setup, solar blanket and enough chemicals to maintain the pool for a couple summers! Still to this day when my parents go in the store to get supplieds, he nevers lets them pay full price for anything, and it's been about 10 years! This was not the only instance during her illness where people were generous - it was amazing to see the endless displays of kindness through all the years that she was sick - it is truly aazing!

A very kind man!
This is something someone did for my 3 ear old son. We were in Dunkin Donuts and he noticed that the man in front of us had dropped a quarter. With no prompting from me, he picked it up and walked up and tried to hand it to the man. The man didn't see him, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. When he realized what my son wanted, he took the quarter and said tahnk you. My son came back top stand in line with us, when the man finished paying for his breakfast he turned around and handed each of my sons fifty cents and told them to keep being honest and that it would pay off. My sons were so happy that they spent the whole time they were eating talking about the popcorn they were going to buy together later that day.

Guardian Angel
Sept 2006 I was on vacation in Tenn. with some motorcycle friends. We were riding south of Knoxville when a friend crashed her motorcycle. I went back to the hotel to get our truck and trailer to tow the bike away. While I was on my way to the hotel someone turned in front of me and I also crashed. I hit the front part of the vehicle at 45-55 mph. Flew 30 feet till I finally hit the ground. As I was laying there in pain. I heard this lady telling me I will be alright. I could feel that parts of my body were right anymore. I broke both legs, both hands, 2 ribs, neck, fractured skull, and dislocated shoulder. As I was laying there in pain. I felt her hand on my back, as she said I will be alright. To this day if it have a hard time sleeping because the accident will replay in my mind. I sometimes wake up scared like I was laying on the ground. But then my girlfriend will place her hand on my back and all fear goes away.
I still haven%u2019t met my guardian angel. But someday I would like to go back to Tenn. and meet her. Just to see her in person and give her a hug. Let her know what she did for me would never be forgotten.
Since I grew up in Albuquerque I always check the news to see what's going on in my hometown. Yesterday I was appalled when I read this story about a woman who collected thousands of dollars of child support from her ex-husband. Nothing out of the ordinary, right???? Well, it turns out the "child" never existed! She's a con! This woman even lured some kid into the court room to pose as her child! Of course her attorney tried to claim that she's delusional and unfit to stand trial. Luckily she's been found competent. The trial date hasn't been set yet.
I can't believe the lengths some people will go to for a lie. What's the biggest lie you've been told?

Do you like your significant other's friends? Or, do you think they are complete morons? Take a look at the email I got yesterday...
Weslea, My husband and I just got into the biggest fight ever! I'm upset because he thinks that my friends are morons. We've all known each other since grade school. We try to get together about twice a month and my husband has made it clear that he won't be taking part in the upcoming get together. He told me that they were beneath me, that they all acted like idiots. He's just mad because last time we all got together two of the husbands went on a "walk" and came back high. He didn't like the fact that they could do something like that and then drive their wives and kids home. I don't like to fight with my husband, but I don't want to give up my friends. What should I do?
What do you think? Have you ever had to give up friends? Have you ever fought with your partner because they don't like your friends?
One of the largest custody cases in US history! Today 416 children will go before a judge in Eldorado Texas in one of the largest custody cases in our nation's history. The children were removed almost two weeks ago, after a 16-year-old girl called an abuse hot line claiming her husband, a 50-year-old member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, beat and raped her. The girl has yet to be identified by investigators. Texas officials believe the children were being physically and sexually abused or were in imminent danger of such abuse. Click here for the entire article.
This story has been all over the news this week. Some think that the children should not have been separated from their mothers. Others think that Texas state officials are just doing their jobs. What are your thoughts on this?
Weslea,
My girlfriend doesn't understand why I won't eat at chain restaurants. It's to the point where we fight every time we are trying to decide where we want to eat. I don't mean to be a food snob, but I'm a chef. I know good food. I love to make good food and I LOVE to eat good food. Why on earth would I want to lower my standard to eat at a chain restaurant or worse yet a fast food joint. That's just gross. I feel bad that I'm always fighting with my girl over something that is so stupid, but I refuse to eat bad food. Are there others like me? My girlfriend swears I'm the most stubborn person in the world. I just want to know if there are other people who refuse to compromise on the things they are passionate about?
Thanks,
Dennis (the food snob) from Greece
Well? Is there anything that you are a snob about? Do you refuse to drink generic beer? Maybe you will only drink certain types of coffee? Or, maybe you only buy designer clothing. Tell me what you are snobby about.
I was baby sitting a little boy a few years ago. I took him to the park, he was playing on the swings and running around in the grass. He was just having a grand old time. All of the sudden I notice he's chewing on something. I run over to him and ask, "What are you eating?" He very excitedly tells me, "I found a raisin!!!" It was too late, he had already swallowed. I felt like the worlds worst babysitter. To this day I hope and pray that the little brown thing he found in the grass actually was a raisin.
Have you ever felt awful about something that happened on your watch? Maybe you felt incompetent (like I did for letting that poor kid eat grass raisins)? Tell me your stories...
What's WBEE Buzzin' About
Upstate Onstage Listen to 92.5 WBEE every Sunday night from 9-10pm!!
I moved here right after I graduated from the University of New Mexico. Having lived in the desert my whole life, I was in a state of shock when I moved to a place that had trees and green grass. In New Mexico the grass is brittle and mostly a brown color. Shortly after I moved here my boyfriend followed suit. He drove 1800 miles across the country with our cat, Cally, in the back seat so that we could be together. I can only imagine all the unhappy meowing that took place! It paid off though, we've been engaged since July!
Now that she's all settled Cally loves Rochester. But not quite as much as she likes begging for treats!
Be sure to check out the "I Love My Country K-9, Kitty and Critter Club." Every month one lucky pet will win a WBEE prize pack for their owner. All you have to do is email me a picture of your pet. There are new pets to look at every month! And now you can cast your vote for the pet that you think should be WBEE's Pet of the Month!
I love living in Rochester! It's been a blast learning about all the things that set Rochester apart from other places. Garbage plates, the Haunted Hayrides, Red Wings and Amerks games, living near the Finger Lakes (and all those wineries!), gotta love Charlotte beach (polar plunge anyone?), and of course the grand canyon of the east, Letchworth!
I'm a goofball, I love laughing and making people laugh! I enjoy being outdoors hiking and camping, all that good stuff. So far my favorite trail in this area is Hi Tor, it's near Naples a little south of Canandaigua Lake.
I started my radio career in Albuquerque, working part time for several stations while I finished college. By the end of my first week at my first radio job, I was hooked! I knew at that point that I wanted to pursue a career in radio.
As a little girl I would sit in my room and listen to the radio for hours. I had one of the duel tape decks, so I would sometimes create a "radio show," playing my music on one side while I recorded my voice and all the music on the other side. Maybe deep down I always knew that I wanted to work at a radio station.
Don't hesitate to call me at 222-WBEE. I would love to talk to you! I want to know what makes your life interesting, email me with your stories! DON'T BE A STRANGER.
