Tod Allen is back in the saddle again at the BEE with a true appreciation for the real reason of country radio…the listener. "I was taught radio by an ol' country D.J. that told me if it weren't for the listeners, there's nobody for us to talk to," Tod says. "And now 21 years later, I get to continue the tradition by talking to Bee listeners and not at them. I want to connect with their day that will make them feel good, stir a feeling or just make them think hard about what's being said."
He came to the BEE 5 years ago from the heart of Kansas and his accent is the real deal. He‘s worked radio since he was old enough to drive to the first station that put him to work as an intern at age 14, KFDI. In his 21 years, he's worked just about every type of radio format and time slot but reverts to his true love of country sighting that it's the story that country music tells in the lyrics. Aside from his time in radio, he's worked as a Sheriff's Deputy and a newspaper business manager, which he says that he uses all of his previous work experience when he's on the air. "Sometimes you’re a counselor, a peace maker or just a friend to talk to. Where else can I have so much fun and they pay you for it?"
When he’s not on the air or at Bee events, he’s busy trying to find someone a new home as a Rochester Realtor® with Century 21 Capital and his website, www.MyRochesterRealtor.com. In his spare time, what there is of it, Tod and his wife travel New York State seeing the sights of the wine country, Rochester events and making the concerts that come to town. Note, if there is a Terri Clark concert within driving distance, he’s on the road! "I love Rochester and the people that have treated us so well," he says. He also is a member of the most active Rotary club in the area - Greece Rotary and a fire commissioner with the Ridge Road Fire District. His family consists of his wife Karen and two dogs; Tango - a white German Shepherd and Scoop - a salt n' pepper miniature Schnauzer.
"I want everyone to feel like they can pick up the phone or email me while I'm on the air and I'll do my best to make you feel like you're one of the gang," Tod continued. "Always remember, to have a day like you want it to be and not like the other person thinks it should be…and we'll see you down the road."
