A native Rochesterian, "Big Daddy" Dave Beck began his radio career at Rochester's first country station, WNYR, in the mid 70's. Dave also logged time as an announcer for several other local radio stations including WVOR, WEZO, WSAY, WHAM, and WHFM before leaving the broadcasting business in the early 80's to work for Bausch & Lomb and later Rochester Gas & Electric.
In 1989, Dave returned to radio as an announcer for WBEE. He has been the host of Rochester's only live, local overnight radio show since 1991. "It's good to work for a company that realizes that this is a 24-hour world, and that those who work during the overnight hours deserve the same kind of attention as those who work daytime hours" Dave says. Being the city's only live and local air talent during the overnight hours allows "Big Daddy" to interact with listeners, play requests, give away stuff, and generally have fun with those who are up at that time of the day. "There are always folks who not only work overnight, but stay up late, and get up early, and, if anything happens during the overnight hours, I can keep everybody informed."
"Big Daddy" is also the host of WBEE's popular "All-Request Saturday Night Houseparty", and "Sunday Morning Blend" programs.
Spirituality is a major part of Dave's life. "I was saved in 1980. Turning my will and my life over to Jesus Christ was an emancipating experience." Dave adds, "I consider myself to be very blessed, and intend to dedicate my life to helping spread the word of God's love and His amazing grace."
Dave lives in Greece with his wife Connie, "to whom I've been happily married since 1981". Dave's family also includes honorary daughters Jessica and Bethany, along with a seven-pound chihuahua named Gizmo!
